Silent night in Stalingrad

December 24, 1942: trapped in the cauldron of Stalingrad, the soldiers of the 6th Army celebrate Christmas.
An army doomed to destruction celebrates the feast of faith and charity in this icy hell of all places.
On the 70th anniversary of the battle, BROADVIEW TV documents the downfall of the 6th Army and reconstructs the situation of the soldiers at Christmas with elaborate scenic reshoots.

The battle for Stalingrad, in which at least one million German soldiers, Red Army soldiers and Soviet civilians fall victim, is the bloodiest decisive battle in the war of annihilation unleashed by Hitler.
The catastrophe of the 6th Army shocked many Germans into realizing that, despite all the propaganda, the war would be lost.
While people at home spent Christmas peacefully with their families, dozens of German soldiers died of starvation and freezing to death on the Volga.
How the catastrophe came about and the consequences of the war for those left behind are portrayed in this documentary, which features new scenes and interviews with family members.
