Senior physician Jorgen Tesman (Godehard Giese) lays the world at the feet of his wife Hedda (Susanne Wolff). But with purchases such as a monstrous villa in the forest with a view of the city, he has completely overstretched himself. Now the newlyweds are expecting an important visitor. The neurologist and head physician Prof. Dr. Brack (Bruno Cathomas) is to make Jorgen his successor - whatever the cost. However, two other guests arrive at the dinner party who no one would have expected: Jorgen's ex-lover Thea (Katharina Marie Schubert) and Hedda's great love Eilert (Wanja Mues). In a seething mixture of love, envy, guilt and betrayal, deep abysses come to light over the course of the evening - and Hedda and Jorgen's future, their marriage and Jorgen's career are put in grave danger.
